Nestled into the rugged terrain of western North Dakota, along the banks of the Little Missouri River, sits Medora: a small town with an enormous story to tell.

It’s where, in 1882, a French nobleman called the Marquis de Morès dreamed of a cattle empire in the era of the open range. It’s where, two years later, a young Theodore Roosevelt found strength and solace after the death of his wife and his mother.

Downtown Medora gets even more exciting in 2022! Point to Point Park is adding a lazy river, a zero entry pool, a splash pad, a jump pillow, zip line, minigolf and self-guided badlands hiking trails.

Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library

Medora has been selected as the future home of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The library and museum will be the premier home of Roosevelt records and artifacts. The Library is projected to open in 2026.
