Steps from Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Medora Musical, and the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, Hotel 1883 places you in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands with room to slow down and settle in. Comfortable rooms feature large windows that open to sweeping views of the Badlands and the National Park
Medora was founded in 1883 by the Marquis de Mores. Later that same year, Theodore Roosevelt arrived for the first time, drawn in by the spirit of the West and a place that would help shape his lifelong conservation ethic.
Today, Hotel 1883 invites families and travelers to do the same – to get away, spend time together, and reconnect with nature and the spirit of the west, just like Teddy Roosevelt.

Our historic rooms are exactly that: historic. We preserved the original structure (once a boarding house) for which our property gained its notoriety, installed modern amenities, and added period-looking furnishings. No two rooms are entirely alike so the aesthetic places you squarely in the days of old. Amenities include a coffee maker, cable TV, and wireless internet connection. This room is only accessible by stairs.
