At Bully Pulpit Golf Course, you’ll find yourself fully immersed in the Badlands as you meander through meadows and woodlands, skirt along the Little Missouri River, and tee off from one butte to another.

COURSE RULES
USGA RULES GOVERN ALL PLAY
• All players must register in the golf shop.
• Keep golf cars on paths when by greens and tees.
• Golf cars must return to the paths 50 yards before greens.
• Golf cars are prohibited in the native and out-of-bounds areas.
• Golfers are prohibited in environmentally sensitive areas.
• Use caution while on elevated tees and golf car paths.
• Dress code enforced, proper golf attire must be worn.
• All players must have a set of clubs.
• All players are expected to repair ball marks, replace divots, and rake bunkers.
• Beverages and coolers not provided by Bully Pulpit are prohibited.
Cancellation Policy: cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made 24 hours or less before a tee time will be subject to a rebooking fee.
Non-Golfing Riders & Extra Cart Requests
We understand that many of our guests travel from afar and want to take in the incredible views our course has to offer. While we do our best to accommodate non-golfing riders and extra cart requests, please note that availability is never guaranteed.
Decisions on non-golfing riders and additional carts are made on the day of play, based on tee sheet volume, cart availability, and overall course conditions. Our priority is ensuring an enjoyable experience for all guests while maintaining pace of play and course operations.
Due to high demand, we are typically unable to accommodate non-golfing riders or extra cart requests on peak-season weekends. If you’re hoping to ride along, we recommend checking with the clubhouse upon arrival on a weekday or during non-peak hours.

The Triple Golf Challenge
In North Dakota, you can experience links golf worthy of Scotland, play courses with sand traps you actually want to hit into, and rip tee shots over 100ft chasms — all in a weekend. For $200 + tax, you get one, 18-hole green fee at Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora, Hawktree Golf Club in Bismarck, and The Links of North Dakota in Williston.

Club Rentals
Men’s and ladies’ sets are available in regular, stiff, and extra-stiff options. Rental brands include Callaway, Mizuno, and TaylorMade. All sets are first come first served. Golf balls and tees are not included.

Coach Jesse Ward, PGA
Originally from New London, Wisconsin, Jesse discovered his passion for golf at 14, introduced to the game by his father. After playing on the high school golf team and working at his home course, he pursued a career in golf. Jesse enrolled in New Mexico State University’s Professional Golf Management Program, learning at facilities in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, and North Dakota, earning his PGA (Class A) Membership in 2017. In 2021, he moved to Dallas, TX, becoming a full-time Teaching Professional. Jesse now brings his experience to Bully Pulpit Golf Course as Head Golf Professional, focusing on rhythm, balance, and patience in his teaching.

Max Murphy-Schumacher, Assistant Golf Professional
Max is from Bismarck, ND and has a strong passion for teaching golf and growing the game. Max started taking golf seriously when he was working at Riverwood Golf Course his freshman year in high school. Max’s experience in teaching came in the summer of 2022 where he was the co-director of the DJGA (Dakota Junior Golf Association) program for Bismarck Parks and Rec. After graduating high school, he attended his dream school – Syracuse University in NY. While being there, he always knew he wanted to pursue a career in the golf industry. An opportunity arose to work at Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert, AZ. This is where Max spent the last two years where he enrolled into the PGA Associates Program and learned how to work major golf tournaments, golf operations, merchandising and teaching. Coming back to his home state in June, Max is settled in Medora and loves working with Jesse at Bully Pulpit Golf Course!

Bully Pulpit Golf Course is a rare golfing experience. Tee shots from Badlands butte to Badlands butte will take your breath away. But when you look deeper, you will find more to take your breath away. Take the front nine. When you play those holes, you are playing on top of a producing oil field! Years ago, workers installed operating wells and submersible pumps. They created pads and roads and designed them to blend in with the surrounding area.
This is an astounding feat of engineering – a commitment to steward and conserve the natural splendor of these Badlands. It is also a testament to the skill of the women and men working in North Dakota’s oil and gas industry; an industry that employs thousands and generates billions in economic impact. The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation’s gift to the Legacy Bully Pulpit campaign will ensure that Bully Pulpit Golf Course will continue to connect thousands of guests each summer to positive, life-changing experiences in Medora.
