THE MAAH DAAH HEY Trail

150 Miles of Badlands

Some of the best single track in the world awaits you in the Badlands!

This 150 mile trail traverses the Badlands, Little Missouri National Grasslands, private land and the North and South Units of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It draws people from all over world to hike, bike and horseback ride in the Badlands.

This trail will give you an amazing experience no matter how you choose to enjoy it.

Traversing the Trail

From the North, the trail begins at CCC Campground in McKenzie County, located 15 miles south of Watford City off Highway 85, and meanders south to Medora, and onward to Burning Coal Vein campground.

For your safety, before using the trail, contact the USFS and inquire about maps, regulations, trail updates, and possible water sources.

Remember, for your protection, exercise caution while using the trail for any outdoor activities you may have planned. Prepare for climate extremes, steep and slippery terrain, and unpredictable wildlife.

LAND offers unparalleled access to the beautiful Badlands and Little Missouri National Grassland’s extensive single-track and gravel trail systems.

The Badlands Race Series includes eight unique, all-season races on the Maah Daah Hey Trail, for everyone from serious competitors to first time riders or runners.
Each year, LAND volunteers dig, mow, string-trim and prune more than 100 miles of singletrack on the Maah Daah Hey trail system to #SAVEtheMDH.

Maah Daah Hey Trail Association

The Maah Daah Hey Trail Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the Maah Dahh Hey through voluntary and public involvement, and in cooperation with the USFS.
