Start your morning in Medora with a lively and refreshing dose of Badlands views and stories from Joe!
All hikes leave from the first bench along the Pancratz Trail, about 200 yards up from the trailhead kiosk, just off of 6th street. You'll know you're there when you see Medora's TR, Joe Wiegand!
Hikes depart shortly after 8:00am MDT. Tardies are welcome to catch up.
Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday - The Strenuous Life Hike - 90 minutes
This hike lives up to TR’s famous 1899 speech "The Strenuous Life". You'll cross Coal Vein Canyon head up to Reclamation Point, Horse Stable Overlook, and eventually land on Schafer Point...the exact location Harold Schafer stood when he dreamed up this magical Medora. It's a great out and back with views of land and life along the trail!
Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday – Mornings on Town Butte – 35 minutes
A not-too-easy to moderate hike that will give the kids time to explore, reveal great views of Medora, and get the blood going and lungs filled with fresh morning air! Truly a perfect way to start your day in Medora.
Both hikes are out and back and do not require an ascent or descent on the cabled ladder.
Guided Hikes will be canceled in the event of wet/muddy trails
GUIDE'S NOTE: None of these hikes are recommended for individuals who would have trouble managing a one-hundred-foot ascent or for whom moderately steep inclines/descents and uneven footing would be problematic. Water and walking sticks are highly recommended.
