Recently, We Celebrated TR's Birthday

Which Makes Now A Perfect Time to Say "Thank You!" and to Share Information About the CARES Act of 2020 That Could Be Valuable to You, and the Badlands Theodore Roosevelt Loved.

This summer we learned how important Medora was to so many. It was the needed outdoor reprieve from the challenges of a pandemic.

From the entire team at the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, “Thank you.”

We are pleased to share important information about the CARES ACT of 2020, that can make it much easier for you to support our work, to connect people to Medora for positive, life-changing experiences.

- 100% of cash contributions could be deductible
- Corporate giving limitations have increased
- Above the line charitable deductions available for non-itemizers

The CARES ACT of 2020 provides unique donor advantages that are currently only available through December 31, 2020.

There has never been a better time for making significant, tax-efficient gifts or to become an annual member of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.

1.)The CARES Act of 2020 allows you to deduct cash gifts of up to 100% of your Adjusted Gross Income.

There are unique gift options to maximize the tax deduction provided by this legislation that is only valid until December 31, 2020! You have an immediate opportunity to impact Medora with major gifts ranging from $25,000 to $1 million (or more).

Examples of Giving Opportunities
Pledge Prepayment: You could prepay a multi-year pledge to take advantage of the higher cash deduction allowance.

Retirement Distributions*: If eligible, you could take a large distribution from your retirement funds for support of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation and, potentially, deduct the entire gift from your federal income tax return.

*Note: a distribution from your 401k or other eligible retirement plan coupled with a gift made to a qualified endowment at the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation could be 100% deductible for your federal taxes and could qualify for the 40% North Dakota State Tax Credit!

Immediate Substantial Impact: If you have the capacity and desire to make transformative changes for Medora and immediately fund a capital project endowment*, or another major initiative, you may get the best tax advantage in 2020.  See these links for current Medora capital projects:

- Finish Point to Point Park (named for TR's favorite game) -- see more here.
- Legacy BP – repairs, enhancements and innovations at Bully Pulpit Golf Course -- see more here.

2.) In addition, the CARES Act provides a charitable deduction to taxpayers who take the standard deduction (most folks) when they file.

This is a universal deduction of up to $300 per tax return for charitable, cash donations.

This could mean your entire Rough Rider Membership is deductible -- become a Rough Rider Member here.
Or, you could sponsor a seat at the Burning Hills Amphitheatre at a fully deductible value -- sponsor a seat here.

Just keep the receipt we provide and have it available at tax time!

3.) This act also benefits corporations, offering a deduction of up to 25% of cash contributions – an increase from 10%.

For more information about how the CARES Act may impact your specific financial situation, please consult with your tax, legal, or financial advisors.

Thank you! We're so grateful for all of our customers and supporters who, together, help us preserve and present the Badlands experience Theodore Roosevelt loved.
