ND Cowboy Hall of Fame

North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame

This interpretive center explores the history of Native Americans, ranching, rodeo, and the western lifestyle of the northern plains horse culture and the badlands. The $4 million facility features a Hall of Honorees, permanent and traveling western culture exhibits, and a 55-seat theater with an award-winning video presentation. The building also offers a gift shop, multipurpose meeting area, full patio, archives section and library, as well as a children's activity area.

The National Rifle Association, the State Historical Society of ND, and the NDCHF have joined forces to present The Guns of Dakota. Theodore Roosevelt's rifle, dueling pistols owned by the Marquis de Mores, and a rifle used at the Battle of the Little Big Horn are just a sample of the historic guns that are on display at the NDCHF.

New in 2010 is the National Finals Rodeo Cowboys from North Dakota exhibit. This display highlights the state's best competitors throughout rodeo history. Other featured traveling exhibits include numerous homestead artifacts celebrating the 1862 Homestead Act, along with fossils found in the the famed Hell Creek formation in the North Dakota Badlands. The fossils, dating back 30 to 60 million years, include crocodiles, dinosaurs, and a full skeleton of a Mezohippus, the ancestor of the horse. For more information on exhibits and activities at the NDCHF call 701-623-2000.
