The Maah Daah Hey Trail is an adventure lover's dream. The 97 mile trail traverses the scenic and rugged North Dakota Badlands, passes through the Little Missouri National Grasslands, State, and private land as it winds its way between the North and South Units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
The trail begins just south of Medora at Sully Creek State Park and meanders north to the U.S. Forest Service CCC Campground in McKenzie County, located 15 miles south of Watford City off Highway 85. An additional 40+ miles of trail will be added summer 2010 running from Sully Creek State Park to Burning Coal Vein Campground.
For your safety, before using the trail, contact the USFS and inquire about maps, regulations, trail updates, and possible water sources. Remember, for your protection, exercise caution while using the trail for any outdoor activities you may have planned. Prepare for climate extremes, steep and slippery terrain, and unpredictable wildlife.

The trail uses a turtle as the trail marker. The turtle was honored because of its firm determination, steadfastness, patience, long life, and fortitude.
